It started in 1995 with my company, Château Ostade, with which I organized many wine presentations, wine courses, events and wine tastings. And it was not only wine that was fascinating me. It was also the diversity, the many varieties, and also the culture of the region, the country in which the wine is produced, and which gives the conditions for producing the wine.
During the years I have made many interesting contacts all over the wine world. All this comes together in my work, in my wine selection, my wine presentations and in my books. I have done a very profound wine research over the years.
This knowledge of wine and wine-related subjects gives me the opportunity to speak first-hand about wine, grapes, wine-making techniques as well as the history and culture that make many wine regions so interesting. I have sat on various international wine-juries, and speak some languages (7). In my free time I try to be a good pianist.
Thanks to this knowledge I have gained recognition for the events, tastings and wine travels. My first book ‘Basiskennis over wijn’ (‘General Knowledge about Wine’) was published in 2003, and now in the ‘Piemonte, Wine and Travel Atlas’ I have presented my second book. And.. there are more to come!
My specialism is Italy, and especially Piemonte, Valle d’Aosta and Liguria. Actually my wine research takes me to new regions as you will discover on my blogs to come.
